She is forever posting gorgeous and loving family photos across her social media accounts, but Kristin Cavallari encountered the nasty side of Instagram this week.

The reality star took to the photo-blogging site to share a seemingly innocent shot of her family enjoying a seaside holiday, and was naturally shocked when the snap met with a wave of criticism.

Some followers believe Kristin’s sons Camden (three) and Jaxon (two) looked ‘too skinny’ in the photo, and let their feelings be known in the comment section.

“I saw this photo on my explore page and clicked on it because I thought it was going to be a post about a child that was sick….Honestly, just saying...Kind of sad,” wrote one follower.

Meanwhile, another commented: “I really believe she loves her children but I’ve never seen a child that skinny, to the point you see their shoulder blades and spine.”

Naturally, Kristin was upset and angry over the comments, and she hit back at the criticism sarcastically, replying: “Yep. I starve my children. Just blocked the most people I’ve ever blocked in my entire life.”

No doubt the comments soured an otherwise idyllic-looking vacation for the star and her husband, Jay Cutler, but Kristin didn’t let anything on. She proceeded to share a shot of herself and Jaxon cuddling on a hammock, as well as a cute couple selfie with Jay.

It can’t be easy to find yourself at the centre of such scrutiny. Do you think social media is ever an appropriate place to comment on another parent’s child?
