Lily Allen was forced to fight back on social media yesterday after she was attacked for sharing details of the stillbirth she suffered in 2010.

Getting into a conversation about mental health, Lily defended her right to have an opinion by saying:

“I DO have mental health issues. Bi-polar, postnatal depression, and PTSD. Does that make my opinion void?”

Questioning the validity of the 31-year-old’s claims, one user responded:

“Can I just ask, how did you get PTSD?”

Six months into her pregnancy in 2010, Lily contracted a viral infection which led to the stillbirth of her son.

Never one to hold back on the truth, the singer responded with the story of her heartbreaking experience six years ago.

“When I lay in a hospital bed with my deceased son stuck between my legs, halfway out of my body for 10 hours.”

Lily’s brave admission was met with a cruel backlash from many Twitter users with one saying:

“Not to be a d**k, but I very highly doubt it was 10 hours.”

Lily hit back at the comments which led to an onslaught of hate from online trolls.

“You are a d**k. And it was. I was there, you weren’t,” Lily wrote.

Another user cruelly attacked the singer, which led to their account being suspended.

The hateful trolling led to the singer's decision to take time away from social media.

Later, Lily’s Twitter was taken over by a friend who announced the change in a post that read:

“Hi, I’m Dennis. I’ll be looking after Lily’s Twitter for a while. I can only communicate in GIF form, and I’m going on a hate-blocking spree.”
