Things haven’t exactly been amicable between singer Madonna and ex-husband Guy Ritchie since their divorce in 2008, and the latest report shows that relations between the exes are still somewhat strained.

A judge has ordered for the former couple’s teenage son, Rocco, to return to New York to be with his mother, after he refused to leave his father in the UK.

According to a report in the New York Daily News, the 15-year-old insisted that he wanted to remain with his movie director father for the holidays, and Rebel Heart hitmaker Madonna brought the matter before the courts.

The 57-year-old reportedly went to the Manhattan Supreme Court earlier this week to ask the judge, Justice Deborah Kaplan, to make Rocco return back to her in New York.

Delivering her judgment, Justice Kaplan said: “I’m directing the child to be returned to New York. If he wants to stay with his father, he must return to his mother.”

A custody case is now expected to take place, with Rocco set to have a court-appointed attorney.

Madonna and Ritchie are also parents to 10-year-old David Banda, while the singer is mother to nine-year-old Mercy James, and 19-year-old Lourdes; her daughter from her relationship with Carlos Leon.
