When your portfolio is as varied as that of Michael Douglas, there are bound to be some titles that you don’t want your children viewing until they reach a certain level of maturity.

Well, it seems that the Hollywood legend’s best interests to shield his children from some of his more risqué work failed spectacularly.

The 70-year-old was speaking during an interview for his new movie, Ant-Man, when he revealed that his 14-year-old son Dylan had already watched Basic Instinct.

Recalling how his young son advised him over his latest role, Michael told the interviewer: “Dylan came to me when I was reading the script and took it out of my hand and said, ‘Dad, let me explain something to you – this is a whole new audience for you, Dad. My friends will know who you are.’”

Dylan then went on to reveal that he had already seen Basic Instinct, as Michael explains: “I said, ‘You saw Basic Instinct?’ And then he realised he was in a little bit of trouble. He goes, ‘Well, I only looked at the part with you, Dad, not Sharon Stone – oops.’”

For anyone who hasn’t seen the movie, Basic Instinct grabbed plenty of headline space due to a very risqué interrogation scene with Michael’s co-star, Sharon Stone – we can see why Michael wouldn’t be too thrilled that his 14-year-old son was checking it out!
