Have you ever found yourself calling your child and realising you've called them by the wrong name?

Your little ones will berate you and say "I'm not HIM!" but you can blame your brain for these slip-ups.

There's a strange scientific reason why we get so confused...

According to a Memory and Cognition journal article, mixing up names is most common when we're with people we have a close relationship to.

A study of  over 1700 participants showed that those who most frequently mixed up names were mums, and their mix-ups typically involved close family members.

This is largely down to the way the brain organises information.

Apparently our brain stores information related to those we love all in one place and sometimes the signals get mixed up.

So that's why we sometimes come out with the wrong name.

Our brains really are the most amazing things...
