We are sending huge congratulations to Lady Antebellum star Charles Kelley and his wife, Cassie McConnell Kelley this afternoon, in light of the announcement that they are set to become parents for the first time.
Cassie shared the wonderful news via her lifestyle blog, Womanista, writing: “Charles and I are SO BEYOND EXCITED to share with y’all that we are expecting a baby! He or she is due in February and we are so happy we can hardly stand it. Like, ecstatic and I’m crying even as I type those words!”
The couple have been married for six years, and Cassie revealed that they have endured their fair share of heartbreak to get to this joyful point in their lives.
Opening up about their fertility struggles, Cassie added: “Many months went by with negative pregnancy tests and a lot of shared frustration…We went through several years of trying before finally seeing our fertility doctor in Nashville this past November.”
Heartbreakingly, Cassie and Charles were told that they had a 1% chance of conceiving naturally. However, after ‘exploring other options to expand their family’, the couple received the positive news they were waiting for in June.
Cassie went on to explain how she was sharing their story to give hope to anyone out there who is going through a similar ordeal as they try to start a family.
“My prayer is that if you are struggling with trying to conceive a child, you will remain hopeful,” she added.
