Discussing his own personal experience with suicide on World Suicide Prevention Day, much-loved rapper, Professor Green, took to the famous This Morning sofas and opened up about his father's death.

The musician, who wed Made in Chelsea star, Millie Mackintosh in 2013, reflected on the turbulent relationship he shared with his father while chatting to hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

The 31-year-old became visibly emotional as he recounted the events leading up to his father's tragic demise which occurred when the musician was just 18-years-old.

In an effort to reconcile over the festive period, the star and his father made plans to discuss their troubles, with Professor Green explaining: "We were meant to meet the day after Boxing Day. I spoke to him on Boxing Day and he said that his wife and their children wanted to see me."

Admitting he became irate with his father as they attempted to organise a meeting, the star said: "I lost my temper because it was not about playing happy families, it was about us being adults and talking about everything that happened."

Reflecting on their tense exchange, the star, who recently shared old photos of his father on Instagram, admits: "He started to stutter. I had put myself on the line again - which is something I promised I wouldn't do and I said, 'If I ever see you again, I'll knock you out."

The Just Be Good To Green singer looked tearful as he recalled the moment he learned of his father's death, saying: "I found out on the Wednesday morning when my nan came into my room and told me that my dad had hung himself."

Revealing he suffers from anxiety, the star credits both therapy and his wife of two years for keeping him balanced, saying: "I see a therapist regularly. I would have been scared to say that before. Millie is an eternal optimist... I err on the side of caution. We have the perfect balance."

Our thoughts are with the star today.
