Sky Sports Formula 1 presenter, Natalie Pinkham, who gave birth to her son Wilfred in January, has opened up about her traumatic labour.

Talking to The Sun, the 36-year-old, who is married to Owain Walbyoff, admitted that she still struggles to talk about her experience as she could have died.

The mum-of-one nearly burst her bladder after Wilfred’s arrival due to diabetes insipidus – a rare condition that causes the sufferer to experience extreme thirst and pass large amounts of urine.

And while, thankfully, it didn’t burst, the presenter’s bladder didn’t work properly for three weeks.

Talking about the scary incident, Natalie said: “I was rushed in for an emergency caesarean as they found I was filled with meconium, effectively poo which the baby could then breathe in."

“The poor baby was really struggling. They did the epidural then asked if I could still feel anything. I said yes and they said there was no time anyway, so I felt the knife across my stomach and my organs wiggle about,” Natalie said.

She added: “It was traumatic. Had my waters broken naturally we both probably wouldn’t have made it. I keep thinking, ‘What if? what if?’. I was really panicked.”

Thankfully baby Wilfred was delivered safely and both mum and baby are doing well now.
