Just last week, a shocking incident that played out on live TV, in which singer and new mum Kelly Clarkson was body-shamed by a Fox News anchor.

Now, the anchor in question, Chris Wallace, has finally spoken out over the controversy, paying a well-deserved and overdue apology to the singer.

“I sincerely apologise to Kelly Clarkson for my offensive comment. I admire her remarkable talent and that should have been the focus of any discussion about her,” said Wallace.

The controversy centred around an exchange between Wallace and show host Mike Gallagher which played out on The Mike Gallagher Show last week.

The pair shocked viewers when they criticised Clarkson’s weight since welcoming her daughter, River Rose, last year, with Gallagher saying: “Have you seen Kelly Clarkson? You know the singer, Kelly Clarkson? Holy cow, did she blow up.”

Wallace replied: “Really? Do we want to talk about some of your friends? Kelly Clarkson’s got a lovely voice. She could stay off the deep dish pizza for a little while.”

Sadly, this is not the first time that Kelly has been on the receiving end of such nasty comments. Indeed, she was recently forced to stand up to none other than Katie Hopkins, who tweeted in March: “Look chubsters, Kelly Clarkson had a baby a year ago. That is no longer baby weight. That is carrot cake weight. Get over yourselves.”

Kelly responded with the perfect reply, saying that Katie’s comments ‘didn’t bother’ her.
