There are several styles to raising a child, some are good and some are only so-so but as a parent the final choice on how to raise a child will be your decision. There are several books available that discuss raising children, what is right and what is wrong, however, this does not mean that what works for one child will work with yours. Reading the parenting books is great for advice that you are not sure of, but they should not be the golden rule to raising your children.

If you are having difficulties with potty training or getting your child to eat healthier for example, there are several wonderful books available to help you through the process. A few that come to mind include “Kids, Parents and Power Struggles: Winning for a Lifetime” by Mary Sheedy Kurcinka. This book has several unique approaches that will help with solving the struggles often occurring with children as well as ways to teach children how to deal with emotions and life skills.

Barbara Coloroso’s, “Kids Are Worth It!: Giving Your Child The Gift Of Inner Discipline” is full of wonderful solutions to help children create their own self discipline with admitting to mistakes all the while teaching them not to lose dignity through the process. Also “Growing Up Again” by Jean Illsley and Connie Dawson has great information for adults about their children’s development through the different ages as well as excellent tools for family growth and nurturing the child and parent.
