A head teacher in Darlington Co. Durham hit the headlines last week when she expressed her disdain for the conduct of her students' parents who choose to do the school run while still wearing pyjamas.

Outlining her concerns in a letter she sent to her pupils' family homes, Kate Chisholm requested that those guilty of the so-called 'slummy mummy approach'  lead by example so that their children may learn the benefits of routine and the importance of keen organisation skills.

Unsurprisingly, Ms. Chisholm was met with considerable backlash by a section of the parenting community, and it seems they may have the support of a much-loved soap star and fellow mum.

Weighing in on the issue, Coronation Street star and mum-of-two, Samia Ghadie, told OK! Online: "I often take Freya to school wearing my joggers and a hoodie that I have just thrown on. I draw the line at wearing my pjs though, only because I wear shorts and a vest for bed."

Acknowledging the pressures felt by innumerable mothers struggling to balance their time efficiently, the 33-year-old actress continued: "A lot of mums are super busy in the morning and worrying about what you look like comes second to getting your kids ready, fed and out of the door in time for school."

Samia, who gave birth to her second child in September of last year, insisted that mothers should be lauded for tending to family commitments while juggling work responsibilities and numerous other roles.

"It doesn't really affect anyone else what they choose to wear so I think so-called 'slummy mummies' should be left alone and applauded for at least managing to do all of the above before 9am!" she asserted,

Samia became engaged to professional ice skater Sylvain Longchambon in May 2015.
