She has always been outspoken when it comes to body image and her pregnancy experiences, and this latest confession by pregnant actress Jaime King is utterly heartbreaking.

The Hart of Dixie star has told Elle magazine how the mocking of a pregnant Kim Kardashian at the 2013 Met Gala left her in tears.

Kim walked the red carpet with her then-fiancé Kanye West, dressed in a full-length floral gown and matching gloves, with her striking look attracting criticism and mockery online.

The incident clearly impacted hugely upon Jaime, who told Elle that it was one of the driving forces behind her recent photos and comments about positive body image in pregnant women.

Recalling that night, Jaime said: “I remember going back in my hotel room and crying for like five hours because I kept seeing all these things come up online, all of these horrible pictures and GIFs.”

“I couldn’t stop crying because here was this beautiful, glowing pregnant woman who is probably so excited to be attending the Met Ball for the first time with the man she loved, and she had this beautiful dress made for her that was very daring and very gorgeous, and has a beautiful growing child inside her, and yet everybody bashed her and called her a whale or said she looked like a couch or drapes,” said the mother-of-one.

Jaime, who recently made headlines after sharing topless photos of herself, showing off her baby bump online, told the publication that she is done trying to live up to ‘unattainable’ body image expectations.

“I wanted to really empower other women in knowing that hey, yeah, you know what? I am very thin but I’m pregnant and I feel beautiful, and I feel grateful that I have a child growing inside of me,” she added.
