It has been a very busy week for baby announcements, and we have yet another lovely piece of news to share with you this evening.

Major congratulations are in order for singer Sophie B. Hawkins, who has become a mum again at the age of 50.

The star, best known for her ‘90s hits Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover and As I Lay Me Down, welcomed a daughter on Tuesday, July 7.

Sophie, who is already mum to seven-year-old son Dashiell, has named her little one Esther Ballantine.

The star confirmed the news to Us Weekly, telling the publication: “Dashiell and I are ecstatic to finally be with our beautiful girl. Our family is now complete!”

Sophie announced news of her pregnancy back in February, and was quick to hit back at queries raised over her age.

“Being 50 is actually an amazing age to have a second child because I am more wise, calm, humorous, appreciative, simple and clear,” she said.

The mother-of-two previously revealed that she had frozen 15 embryos when she turned 31.

Congratulations to the family on their new arrival.
