Singer Sinead O’Connor is celebrating this weekend after becoming a grandmother for the very first time.
The 48-year-old’s son Jake welcomed a son yesterday with his girlfriend, and Sinead took to her social media channels to announce the wonderful news.
The Nothing Compares To You singer posted up a cartoon which spelled out ‘It’s a boy’, having previously revealed that Jake and Lia were expecting around this time.
Sharing the joyful news back in March, she wrote on Facebook: “It’s not my 18-year-old daughter who’s having a baby! It’s my 27-year-old son Jake and his beautiful girlfriend, Lia!”
“Am so delighted!!! Always wanted to be a granny. In fact that’s the only reason I had kids (joking). Baby will be arriving in July,” she added.
No doubt this is a happy distraction for the star, who appeared to be very angry indeed after finding out that Kim Kardashian had covered the latest issue of Rolling Stone.
The star blasted the move publicly, insulting Kardashian and proclaiming that “music has officially died”.
Congratulations to Sinead and the family on the news of their little bundle of joy.
