Once considered Ireland's golden couple, former Boyzone member, Ronan Keating, and his wife, Yvonne, appeared to have all the boxes ticked.

An enduring relationship, three beautiful children and a happy family life meant that news the couple planned to divorce following reports of infidelity in 2011 stunned fans of the popular pair.

But while members of the public still struggle to get their heads around the dissolution of the once enviable relationship, Yvonne, on the other hand, is capable of looking at the 14-year- marriage with remarkable objectivity.

Admitting the relationship was not always picture-perfect, former model, Yvonne, believes she sacrificed a lot during her marriage to the Dublin-born performer.

Opening up about previous family life, Yvonne, who recently changed her name back from Keating to Connolly, said: "I made the decision not to work, to step away from the limelight when I had my first child. I turned down a lot of work during those years."

Reflecting on various decisions she made during her marriage to Ronan, Yvonne admitted; "In hindsight, I feel I lost my identity as a woman, as an individual. I was very happy to take my husband's name. We all think when we marry that it will last forever."

Elaborating further still, the mum-of-three admits she regrets some of the choices she made, saying: "I do wish that I'd kept working, though, that I'd had more confidence in myself, as a mother and as a woman."

Yvonne, who is now in a happy relationship with businessman John Conroy, says she now recognises her children would not have suffered had she continued to work after becoming a mum.

Yvonne's ex-husband is due to marry his fianceé Storm Uechtritz tomorrow.
