Despite having gone through a high profile separation, reality TV star, Khloé Kardashian, felt compelled to reach out to her ex-husband Lamar Odom this weekend by paying tribute to his best friend.

Upon learning that the basketball star's close friend had passed away following a heroin overdose, Khloé took to Twitter to express her regret and pay tribute to the late Jamie Sangouthai.

Clearly stunned by Jamie's death yesterday, Khloé, who filed for divorce from Lamar in December 2013, simply wrote: "When does it stop?  RIP Jamie Sangouthai."

The 37-year-old had made several appearances on the Keeping Up With The Kardashian's spin-off, Khloé and Lamar and is believed to have played a key role in the issues which affected Khloé and Lamar's relationship before it ultimately ended in divorce.

Bearing no ill will towards Jamie who is understood to have enabled Lamar's drug issues, Khloe paid tribute to the man who has been a constant presence in her ex-husband's life by posting a variety of emojis suggesting she's heartbroken.

Khloé, who is godmother to birthday girl North West, assured fans she was coping with the tragedy as best she could and reminded Instagram followers that positives can be born of negatives, writing: "Life doesn't get easier but I promise you that life will make you stronger."

Lamar has yet to make a statement, but reports emerging from the US suggest that the 35-year-old star athlete is struggling to come to terms with the loss.

Our thoughts go out to all those affected by Jamie's untimely passing.
