Major congratulations are in order this week, as it has been announced that Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington has given birth to her first child.

The star and her husband, fellow swimmer Harry Needs, welcomed a daughter into the world yesterday morning.

The overjoyed 26-year-old took to her social media channels to share the wonderful news, tweeting: “Harry Needs and I are over the moon as we welcomed our beautiful baby girl this morning. She’s doing well and we’re so in love!!!”

Meanwhile, delighted new dad Harry wrote: “Can’t believe I fell in love all over again today. Thank you Rebecca for making me the happiest man on this earth #daddysgirl.”

A representative for the couple told Hello! magazine that Rebecca and Baby were already out of hospital and settling in at home.

While the couple have yet to reveal the baby’s name, or details of the birth, we will keep you updated. Rebecca had previously admitted that she wanted a water birth.

“A water birth would be top of the list. A few friends have recommended it. I would like the birth to be as natural as possible, but you can’t really plan with it, can you?” she said.

Congratulations to Rebecca and Harry on their wonderful news.
