Last week’s preview suggested that it was going to make for intense and emotional viewing, and Susan Schneider’s first interview since her late husband’s death certainly lived up to expectations.

In the interview, which aired last night, Susan made some devastating revelations about actor and comedian Robin Williams’ death.

Opening up about the Mrs Doubtfire star’s passing, Susan explained how Williams was suffering from a debilitating brain disease when he commit suicide.

Susan went on to insist that it was this disease – Diffuse Lewy Body Dementia – and not depression that caused Williams’ death.

“I’ve spent this last year trying to find out what killed Robin…Robin was very aware that he was losing his mind and there was nothing he could do about it,” Susan explained.

She added: “It was not depression that killed Robin. Depression was one of let’s call it 50 symptoms, and it was a small one.”

Susan went on to recall her final words to her husband, on the day that he was found dead.

“I got to tell him, ‘I forgive you 50 billion percent, with all my heart. You’re the bravest man I’ve ever known.’ You know, we were living a nightmare,” she said of his health struggles.

Williams was found dead in his California home in August 2014.
