Much like her highly-anticipated birth in May of this year, Princess Charlotte’s christening on the Queen’s Sandringham Estate today has captured the hearts of the press and public alike.

Unlike her brother George’s christening, which took place in London, baby Charlotte is to be baptised this afternoon in a small 16th century church on her great-grandmother’s estate in Norfolk.

And while we knew who would be officiating the ceremony, what the princess would be wearing and who would be in attendance, we were still in the dark when it came to the baby girl's chosen godparents...until now.

It has been announced that Sophie Carter, James Meade, Adam Middleton, the Hon. Laura Fellowes and Thomas van Straubenzee have been named as Princess Charlotte's godparents and it will be made official during the small Anglican baptism taking place this afternoon at 4.30pm.

The announcement will signal good news for many members of the public who had placed bets on which members of the royal circle would be given the honour.

Due to arrive to the ceremony on foot today, members of the royal family and a small group of guests will be offered support and well wishes by enthusiastic members of the public, eager to catch a glimpse of Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana on her special day.

But those who were not fortunate enough to secure a place on the paddock are due to get a sneak peek of the princess’ big day courtesy of high-profile photographer, Mario Testino, who has been given the honour of documenting the ceremony for the much-loved royal parents.

Hopefully the sun will begin to shine down on the royal family as they assemble in the grounds of the same church which welcomed Prince William’s late mother, Diana, over fifty years ago.

Congratulations to the beautiful Princess Charlotte and her very proud godparents on this very special day!
