24-year-old mum Dionne Baxter was left scarred for life after she woke up to find her iPhone had burned a huge five inch welt on her left breast.

Dionne had plugged in her phone to charge and have fallen asleep while lying on it. She woke up in agony to find it had given her a severe burn.

“'I sleep in the nude and this large red mark was all down one side to the nipple,” she recalled.

“When I touched the phone, it was so hot, I couldn't pick it up.”

Dionne was rushed to hospital and treated with antibiotic cream, antiseptics and painkillers, but the wound became infected.

She now worries that she will not be able to breastfeed if she has a second child.

“It's dreadful,” Dionne said, “Imagine if my daughter had been on that side of the bed and it had burned her face.”

Dionne is not the first person to report an iPhone overheating to dangerous levels.

Recently a woman from china got burns on her face from chatting on the phone, while in February a 14-year-old girl in Maine received second degree burns when her phone caught fire in her pocket.

Apple have so far refused to comment on the overheating issues.
