Juggling Baby, household duties, a job and often other kids is not only exhausting but at times can feel like an impossible task.

If you are heading back to work soon and are worried about how you can juggle everything, these ten life hacks will make everything run a little smoother.

1. Shop online

Save yourself at least an hour by doing your shopping online. Write a list just like you would if you were heading to the shop and sit down one evening after the kids are in bed. Not only will it save you a lot of time but you’re more likely to spot a bargain.

2. Double buy grocery items

Cut down the amount of time you spend shopping by buying two of nearly everything: two toothpastes, two breakfast cereals, etc. While this depends on how much space you have in the house, it is a great way to cut down shopping time.

3. Make lunches the night before

Spend 20 minutes the night before making your own lunch and that of your older kids. This will give you extra free time in the morning and make you feel more relaxed before you head off to work.

4. Cook twice as much

Always double your portions when cooking so that you don’t end up cooking every single evening. It will only take you about ten minutes longer but you’ll save yourself a full evening by just reheating the next day.

5. Have clothes ready the night before

Lay out everybody’s clothes the evening before so that come morning all you have to do is throw them on you and Baby.

6. Create a family roster

Make things run efficiently by creating a family roster - one person shouldn’t end up doing everything all the time.

7. Have a bag of baby essentials in the car

Pack a bag with baby essentials like a small first aid kit, nappies and change of clothes and leave it in our car. This way even if you do forget their changing bag, you’ll have one ready and waiting in the car.

8. Have back-ups ready and waiting

Have at least two back-ups (family or friends) that are willing to help out in case the childminder gets sick or Baby can’t go to crèche.

9. Mark dates in your diary

Birthday parties, vaccinations, lunch with the girls should all be marked in your diary (with an alarm) as soon as you arrange them. This way you won’t forget and you can keep it out of your mind.

10. Keep things in one place

Designate a certain pace for your keys, your shoes, baby’s bag, rain gear for the buggy, and other essentials that you will need on a daily basis. This will, hopefully, stop you wasting time looking for it!
