Social media sites like Facebook and Instagram is a great way to share photos of your baby with family and friends that may live abroad. However, it is important that you are careful about what you post – no matter how private you may think your page is.
Some pictures which look funny to you are potential sources of embarrassment for your baby when they get older (yes, they are...), and are best kept for family eyes only or the big screen on their 21st birthday party...
Here are ten photos you shouldn't post of your infant:
1. Naked pictures
No matter how cute you think their bum looks – you wouldn’t want someone to post a picture of yours, would you?
2. In the bath
Keep this one for the family album - some things are just meant for family viewing.
3. The first time they sat on the potty/ toilet
A proud moment for you, yes, but when they look back they might not be so chuffed their toilet antics received 20 likes...
4. The time they were sick but looked ‘SO CUTE!’
They are feeling lousy and just want Mum to give them a kiss and a cuddle, not shove a camera in their face...
5. ANYTHING that is controversial
Holding a wine glass may make a funny picture to share over the Christmas dinner but putting it on social media is just asking for trouble – you know what some people are like!
6. When they are with other kids
Their parents may not appreciate you flaunting their child on social media for all to see.
7. Anything that shows where they are – like the crèche they attend weekly
It’s better to be safe than sorry.
8. Photos of them doing anything that looks dangerous
It will just come back to bite you...
9. The time the dog was licking their face
See point five...
10. Their rolls of fat
Fat-shaming a baby is never good, no matter how cute their little pudgy tummy is.
