There is more to the summer than ice cream and beaches, particularly if you've just given birth!
And while having a baby in the winter has just as many benefits as this time of the year, there is just something about May, June and July that make mums pretty excited to have a baby around now!
1. Maternity leave
Maternity leave during the summer beats maternity leave during the winter hands down! Bright evenings, warm afternoons and sun drenched mornings make it a pretty awesome time to be off work.
2. No need to wrap up
During the summer there is no need to bundle up Baby in layers and layers of clothing! If you’re lucky, a simple cardigan and a baby grow is enough (sometimes!)
3. Getting out of the house is easier
Getting out of the house with a newborn is hard enough without having to brace yourself for the wind and rain – oh, how we love the summer!
4. Maxi dresses galore
There is nothing worse than trying to squeeze your post-baby body into jeans and a woolly jumper – maxi dresses all the way.
5. Cute summer hats
There is nothing more angelic than your little one wearing a sweet summer bonnet!
6. Outside time
You don’t need to go far to enjoy fresh air and relaxation – a blanket on the grass, on a warm sunny afternoon is the perfect way to spend your day!
7. No school runs
If you have older children then the summer means no more school runs – imagine getting everyone out of the house with a newborn in tow?!
8. Night feeds aren't so bad
Waking up at 4am is not too bad when you can already see the day starting to brighten up and can hear the birds chirping. It’s a whole different story when it’s lashing outside and you just know the darkness will be there until at least ten!
9. Everyone is happier
There is nothing like a bit of sun to cheer everyone up and make them feel a lot happier.
10. The perfect summer photos
You'll be snap happy in the first few weeks after Baby is born and your camera will be filled with blissful summer happiness.
