As your child grows into a big kid, it's hard not to be sad saying goodbye to their toddler years; full of fun and mischief it's not surprising, to be honest.

And if you are anything like us, you will no doubt miss the following ten things:

Sitting on your lap

Not only are they too big to sit comfortably on your knee, but now they have said goodbye to the toddler years they actually find it too embarrassing! What if their friends saw!

Not having to get their hair cut

It wasn’t yet long enough to get a proper cut and you quite liked to messy, rascal look that the long hair gave to your kid! But now it’s down to their bum and you can’t put it off any longer.

Not having to deal with homework

As soon as they start in big school, your evenings will become a mix of trying to chaperone them to activities and fit their homework in. And yes, they can get a lot of homework in junior infants!

Their adorable little walk

As they learn to walk, toddlers definitely have a unique way of putting one foot in front of the other – one that we can’t help but coo over!

That you are their best friend

When they reach a certain age and start to have friends of their own, they would much rather spend their days running around outside than sitting in with you.

The adorable curls

It’s a sad day when you have to say goodbye to the adorable little lock that has graciously fallen over their eye for the past two years.

Squishy cheeks

When they start to turn into big boys and girls, it’s hard not to miss the days when you had to restrain yourself from squeezing their squishy cheeks!

Their puddin’ legs

Talking about resisting the urge to squeeze them, their little pudding legs were another part of our youngster which totally melted our heart!

Holding onto your leg as you walk

While they might think it's just fun, to you it is an act that you will want to treasure forever. Soon they will be too big to be able to hold onto your leg as you walk down the road.

Being in control of their outfits

From cute little waistcoats to beautiful tutus, you could dress your little one in whatever tickled your fancy that day. Now they have an opinion on what you put them in it!
