If you're the type of person who finds themselves reaching for a packet of biscuits or gnawing nervously on a slice of toast when things get a little too hectic, then congratulations, you're a stress eater.

Most of us seek comfort from food in one way or another, but if you're a genuine stress eater then there are certain thought processes that go on in your head which may not make sense to everyone else.

Don't worry, we know those processes all too well! We can go from one family-based worry to one fridge-based concern in mere moments.

If you're the same, then a few of these might ring a bell.

1. "I better reply to that very urgent email."

"Am I right in thinking there's casserole left over from last night?"

2. "I really must talk to his teacher about that."

"But first, chocolate!"

3. "If I don't sort that laundry pile soon, I'll be sending the kids to school in bin liners."

"I should probably grab some lunch before tackling it though."

4. "I really should be able to help this child with their homework, but my God this isn't easy."

"Is that the remnants of a chocolate bar in his bag!?"

5. "I know I should book that GP appointment but..."

"...this hastily-made sandwich won't eat itself."

6. "Why is that person with a clipboard calling to the door?"

"That's it. I'm hiding in the fridge."

7. "I can't sleep with all this worrying."

"Or maybe I'm hungry. I should go find out."

8. "Is it normal for a teenage boy to eat this much?"

"That was my slice of carrot cake."

9. "Why does my mother-in-law insist on having this awkward conversation with me?"

"I'll never get through her Werthers Originals at this rate."

10. "Why have I got four missed calls?"

"That's it, I need a doughnut."
