Heartfelt congratulations are in order today following this Home and Away star's wonderful announcement!

Emily Symons, known for playing Marilyn Chambers in the long-running Aussie soap, has revealed that she is expecting her first child and can barely absorb the happy news.

Emily, who has struggled with fertility issues in the past, admits that she didn't think she would ever become a mother, confessing: "I'd given up really. I thought I had tried every avenue that was available to  us. My advice is to not give up if you're feeling a bit overwhelmed by the whole process."

The actress, who also played Louise Appleton in Emmerdale for seven years, admits that her longing to become a mother consumed her at some points, saying: "I spent a lot of my 30s being so anguished about not having a baby. There's a longing and biological need to have a baby that I don't think men have."

Emily and her partner Paul Jackson are overjoyed at the prospect of becoming parents this August, saying: "Never say never! We are so happy to finally be able to share our news. Thank you for all your incredibly kind words."

Speaking to Australia's Daily Telegraph, the overjoyed mum-to-be said: "I thought it would be impossible but it isn't."

We couldn't be happier for the ecstatic couple!
