When you become a mum for the first or second time, you can be consumed with a guilt that seems to come from nowhere. Unfortunately, this feeling is actually just a side of motherhood that most mums don’t talk about. But you should always remember there is no need to feel guilty, especially for these eight things:

Going out with friends
A break from your baby for even an hour or two will do you both the world of good.

Not breastfeeding
If breastfeeding is not for you, don’t stress about it. As long as your baby is happy and healthy there is no need for you to feel like you are doing something wrong.

Not taking a million photos
You don’t need to take photos of your baby every single second of the day. There are some moments that you don’t want to view through a lens. So don’t stress it.

Ignoring another mums’ advice
You will definitely be inundated with lots of advice from mums who have a gaggle of kids, but that doesn’t mean you have to listen. Don’t feel bad if one person’s advice goes in one ear and out the other.

Not changing your baby’s nappy straight away
If you don’t immediately jump up to change your baby’s nappy as soon as they are wet, don’t think too much. As long as you don’t leave it long enough for them to get a rash, every once in a while is ok.

Not being happy all the time
Society expects new mums to be happy and in a wonderful bubble after the birth of their baby. But this is not the case for every single mum. If you are feeling the strain of motherhood, speak up and seek help.

Not having a routine in place by the first month
The first weeks are going to be hectic. If this is your first you will be still trying to come to terms with your new life and if it is your second or third you will be trying to manage juggling all balls. If your baby is happy and healthy then that’s all that really matters.

Not keeping up with the Jones’
Just because your baby doesn’t sleep through the night, you have to feed for hours or they cry a lot, there is nothing wrong with you as a mum. Remember, every child is different and every mum has their own way of parenting.
