She welcomed her first child, a son, last month, and introduced her little one to the world just this week.

Now, Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley has opened up on her ‘miracle’ labour with baby Alfie, sharing the details during an interview with OK! magazine.

The 31-year-old, who welcomed Alfie with her partner Tom Pitfield, revealed that she was in labour for 38 hours with her little one, having been induced at two weeks overdue.

“My labour became a little bit of a miracle,” she said, adding that the couple were “completely and utterly elated” when they clapped eyes on their little one.

Doting new dad Tom added that he was overcome with relief when Alfie finally made his appearance.

“It was just complete relief. You get to the point where you think you’re never going to meet him,” said Tom.

The couple announced the arrival of their beautiful baby boy three weeks ago, with Catherine tweeting: “We made a wish and you came true. Welcome Alfie James Pitfield. We love you beyond words.”

Catherine had previously spoken very candidly about her plans for Alfie’s birth, so we’re sure there will be plenty more details to come in the next few weeks.
