The legendary actor made headlines for all the wrong reasons earlier this year, after seriously injuring himself in a plane crash, and now his famous wife has shed light on how the family were affected by the incident.

Harrison Ford has spent the past five months recovering after breaking his pelvis during a crash-land, and this week his wife, Brothers and Sisters star Calista Flockhart has opened up about the trying time.

In an interview this week, the 50-year-old – who is mum to son Liam with Ford – said: “It was a really hard, scary time for our family. I think it just makes you realise, once again, that life can turn on a dime.”

Confirming that the 73-year-old actor is “doing really well” now, Calista added: “We just have to appreciate every second we’re here, because you never know.”

During the interview, the star also touched on returning to the small screen in the new Supergirl series, and how she is juggling family life with work.

“I think my priorities have changed a lot…[The role] just gives me a little more time – my family is very important to me, so I’m blessed that I’m just going to be here a little bit and go home to my family. I think that it’s just me. I have a different perspective,” she added.

Calista and Harrison tied the knot back in 2010, having met at the Golden Globe Awards eight years earlier.
