Singer Adele has opened up about suffering from postnatal depression after having her son.

The mum-of-one revealed all in a new interview with Vanity Fair and admitted that while at first she didn't see the signs, it wasn't uncommon for her to become depressed, after battling it for years after her grandfather died.

“I didn’t talk to anyone about it. I was very reluctant. My boyfriend said I should talk to other women who were pregnant, and I said, ‘F*ck that, I ain’t hanging around with a f*ckin’ bunch of mothers.'”

“My knowledge of postpartum is that you don’t want to be with your child; you’re worried you might hurt your child; you’re worried you weren’t doing a good job.

"But I was obsessed with my child. I felt very inadequate; I felt like I’d made the worst decision of my life. It can come in many different forms.”

Since releasing her latest album, 25, Adele has exploded back onto the main stream, but admitted that while she loves Angelo, he did come with sacrifices.

“I think it’s the bravest thing not to have a child; all my friends and I felt pressurised into having kids, because that’s what adults do.

“I love my son more than anything, but on a daily basis, if I have a minute or two, I wish I could do whatever the f*ck I wanted, whenever I want.”

Do you know someone who suffered from postnatal depression? Did they feel the same way or totally different?
