Little Mosley had a tough start to life.

The sweet greyhound was four years old when he was rescued from the dog racing industry, but was so used to noise and rough handling that he had no idea who to deal with people.

After being taken in by Going Home Greyhounds, a rescue centre in Pennsylvania, his luck began to change.

He was swiftly adopted by loving couple Scott Merrihew and his wife, and they have worked tirelessly to help him adapt to his new life – and to trust them, despite his experiences.

“Coming from the racetrack, he was always used to being around a bunch of dogs and noises, and that was a big change for him,” Scott told The Dodo.

“When we first got him, he had a little separation anxiety and was really protective of his space.”

In the early days, Mosley found it hard to deal with affection, having never been given any as a pup.

But now, four year son, he’s had so much of it that he has come on in leaps and bounds.

In fact, he couldn’t be more loving towards his family, which includes his two cat ‘sisters’, and brand new baby ‘brother’, the couple’s newborn baby boy, Lucas.

“He was a lot more cuddly with my wife towards the end of the pregnancy,” Scott said. “He knew something was happening.”

“His initial reaction about Lucas was very interested but knew to keep his distance.”

But he’s now such a good brother that he gets special treatment at home.

“He’s been really good with the baby. We currently lock the kitties out of the room at night but Mosley is allowed in,” he said.

What a beautiful story of rescue and rehabilitation. Mosley will surely grow to be the best friend this boy could have.
