Andy Murray won the Wimbledon men’s singles yesterday for the second time, and he credits one very special little lady for his win: his daughter, Sophia.
Andy and his wife Kim Sears welcomed baby Sophia five months ago, and the tennis ace has admitted that it changed his “attitude to life”.
"It’s been an amazing few months enjoying being a dad and hopefully I can keep performing on the tennis court, she’s [daughter Sophia] helped me in that respect for sure,’ he told Coleen Nolan and Janet Street-Porter on Loose Women.
The 29-year-old, who married his 28-year-old wife, Kim, in a gorgeous ceremony last year, added that tennis has become less of a focus for him since little Sophia arrived.
“Obviously having children changes your perspective on life, changes your perspective on things, so I feel like I’m appreciating things a bit more now,” he explained via video link on the show.
"Tennis isn’t the be all and end all, which is a good thing. You know before, tennis was all I was bothered about, where as now the first thing I think about when I get up in the morning isn’t tennis anymore and that’s a good thing.”
However, the star who was out to the wee hours celebrating his win, didn’t just speak to Loose Women about his role as a dad, he also opened up to Prince William, who, upon meeting the champ, asked how the family was, and how he managed to win “with no sleep”.
