Breaking her silence on rumours that her Guardians of the Galaxy husband had indulged in an extramarital affair with Hunger Games star, Jennifer Lawrence, the doting mum-of-one revealed she was significantly more affected than she would have earlier anticipated.
Like many people, Anna admits that she often assumed reports emerging from Hollywood had some grounding in reality, but it appears her recent experience has left her in no doubt that this isn't always the case.
Acknowledging what could be construed as naivety while speaking to FOX 411. the Scary Movie star said: "I have always kind of believed that part of the rumours of celebrity couples were sort of true - because they had never been part of my life. I thought: "Maybe there is a kernel of truth to that.""
Revealing the effect that reports her husband of six years had been unfaithful to her with his Passengers co-star, Anna admits she was left reeling.
Despite having confidence in both Chris and their relationship, the 38-year-old actress said: "It has been a little devastating. For us it was like: 'What the heck?" This has been blindsiding to us."
While paying tribute to her marriage, Anna acknowledges the reports were far from easy to handle, explaining: "We have an incredible relationship,but it has been weirdly stinging."
Chris and Anna, who tied the knot in 2009, share a three-year-old son named Jack.
