Living an active life has so many benefits, one is that exercise is an anti-aging tool. Physical activity can help you feel youthful and achieve balance in the body. Any form of exercise has plusses; however walking and yoga are especially good as they are low impact and kind to your joints. Here are some benefits of these exercises:

Yoga
The poses offered in yoga help with the inevitable degeneration of our bodies that come with age. The poses of yoga have powerful anti-aging benefits which are good for joints, bones and skin and are grounding, stabilising, and strengthening. It is possible, through yoga to reduce the effects of the energy that ages us.

There are many different types of yoga, including vinyasa, ashtanga, Bikram, and hatha. So, it is a great idea to try out as many variations as you can, to discover what you like best as each one has a different focus and intensity. It is important to choose a yoga type that involves a healthy range of motion for all the joints in the body, particularly the spine as this affects the way we breathe, hold ourselves, and how we feel.

Yoga can also be good for minimising wrinkles. Upside down poses like the downward dog can be beneficial in reducing all the effects of gravity, externally and internally with your organs benefiting also. By practicing yoga, you strengthen the body inside and out, achieve balance and calm, causing you to frown less, and therefore developing fewer wrinkles!

Meditation
Meditation fosters tranquillity and helps relax the body, people often claim to sleep better after yoga. Sleep is of course, vital to our well-being both physically and mentally, so, sleep is, in its own way an anti-aging magic pill.

Walking
There’s nothing like a nice brisk walk on a crisp day. Walking is enjoyable, free and can be done anywhere. It is also a fantastic anti-aging tool. Walking increases aerobic capacity and prevents some of the loss of muscle function that occurs with age.

Walking is an activity that can fit seamlessly into your life. You can walk around your neighbourhood, get off the bus a few stops early, walk to a local park, or even to work. In time, it may be possible to begin running and jogging. Doing even higher-impact cardiovascular exercises will bring additional anti-aging benefits.
