If a father makes up his mind that he’s going to be there for his child’s birth, then nothing can get in the way of that – even 6,000 miles!

This was the case for US Army Captain Anthony Burch, who recently witnessed his wife giving birth to quadruplets in the most thoroughly modern way – via FaceTime.

According to reports, Burch is currently on deployment in South Korea and there was no way he was going to make it back to his hometown of Illinois to be with wife Mary-Pat for the births.

And so, a fortnight ago, as Mary-Pat went in labour in AMITA Adventist Medical Centre, he watched the whole thing via a video call on FaceTime.

The couple, who are already parents to two-year-old daughter Alice, went on to welcome another daughter and three sons: Molly, Henry, Nathaniel and Samuel.

While Anthony said the whole thing worked out at ‘perfect timing’, wife Mary-Pat told ABC News that he actually had the privilege of seeing their babies for the first time!

“He got to see the babies before I did, even though I was right there in the room!” she said.

Luckily for Anthony, he got to fly home last Thursday to see his wife and their little ones, and he has another two weeks to bond with them until he reports back for duty.

No doubt he is relishing every second at home. Congratulations to the family!
