Not wanting to leave these tiny babies out of any Halloween fun, nurses and volunteers with The March of Dimes - a charity that works to end premature birth and other problems that threaten babies - decided to give them their very own costumes.

But they weren't just any old spooky outfit!

Parents of the youngsters, who are all in the NICU at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, were given the option to choose a costume based on their infant's personality, with many opting for well-deserved superhero capes.

Made from felt, the handmade outfits ranged from butterflies to Batman, and were gently draped on the backs of the infants.

The tiny tots also each received a “trick or treat, smell my feet” card with the newborns’ tiny footprints, a hand-crocheted pumpkin filled with treats and a Halloween book that the parents and their babies can read together next year.

Schaumburg Photography were given the pleasure of taking six photos of newborns, photos which were uploaded to their blog by Emma Lee.

"The March of Dimes volunteers brought joy to the NICU families at St. Luke's Hospital today," she wrote.

"They made the tiniest Halloween costumes and held a party for the families. I photographed six premature babies, a few being families that I photographed on my last trip so it was special to see them again.

"It's these types of experiences that remind me of why I volunteer for the March of Dimes."
