While the Solar Eclipse took place on American shores, the entire country seemed to take a piece of their day to catch a glimpse.

And while one eager beaver was vehemently trying to make their way out to see the fanfare, her mum had to stay indoors and miss the show.

South Carolina mum, Freedom Eubanks, was due to give birth to her second baby on September 3rd.

However, her little one wasn't on board with the plan, wanting to capture the big astronomical event of the decade.

So instead of waiting around, she decided to join the world in the labour ward of Greenville Memorial Hospital on the same day as the much anticipated Solar Eclipse.

Freedom and her husband Michael, had initially planned on naming their little girl 'Violet', but with the day's event in motion, they changed their minds.

The couple felt it was fitting they named their daughter, Eclipse.

But Eclipse wasn't the only baby that entered the world on Monday at Greenville Memorial, as staff at the hospital had special onesies made for the newborns.

The onesies each have a picture of the sun and moon, with "Total Solar Eclipse" blazoned across the white vests.

We think this is beautiful, and not alone will each tot have a onesie, Eclipse will always have a special story to tell about how her name was picked too.
