Well now we feel old!

The baby from the cover of grunge-rock outfit Nirvana’s classic album Nevermind is not a baby anymore. Nope, he’s now 25 and has re-enacted the cover in honour of its 25th anniversary.

Although – perhaps thankfully – in this version he’s kept his pants on!

“I said to the photographer, ‘Let's do it naked’,” Spencer Elden told The New York Post. “But he thought that would be weird, so I wore my swim shorts.”

Good move Spencer.

The 1991 album, featuring iconic tunes like “Come As You Are” and “Smells Like Teen Spirit” cemented Nirvana’s legacy as grunge heroes – and being part of it means a lot to Spencer, an artist living in Los Angeles.

“The anniversary means something to me. It's strange that I did this for five minutes when I was four months old and it became this really iconic image,” Elden told The New York Post.

“It's cool but weird to be part of something so important that I don't even remember.”

Photographer Kirk Weddle asked Spencer’s parents if they could shoot him for the cover, and paid them just $200. Of course Nirvana was an unknown band at the time, and no one knew the image would become so iconic.

And going full circle, Spencer was paid $200 by photographer John Chapple to recreate the image once more.

SHARE if you can’t believe the album is 25 years old!
