How beautiful are these baby sloths?

Sadly, they've all lost their mums and are all alone. Well, they were. Thankfully, Sam Trull has stepped in to help them out.

She's the founder of The Sloth Institute Costa Rica, where she has been doing everything she can to help rescue and take care of baby sloths before releasing them back into the wild.

After founding the institute in 2013, she has been looking after baby sloths who were unable to learn primary survival skills as they lost their mothers.

For that reason, it's tough to release them into the wild as something might happen to the vulnerable little things.

But, Sam is determined to make sure they know everything they need to know before they set off into the big bad world.

Before she opened her institute, Sam joined a wildlife rehab clinic on the Pacific Coast called Kids Saving the Rainforest.

Her time there inspired her to start helping little sloths, after she met adorable Kermie, a two-week-old baby two-toed sloth who had recently lost his mum.

The ultimate goal was to release Kermie into the wild - as heartbreaking as it sounds.

In order to do this, they use a 'soft release' which allows sloths to take their time getting used to the jungle before leaving on their own.

According to an interview with Upworthy, to make the soft release happen, Sam set up a 19-foot-cubed cage near the centre, where they keep sloths for several months until they look ready for release.

While Sam loves all animals, she has a particularly soft spot for sloths.

"I realise that the circle of life requires all kinds of species of animals...," she began, but went on to say, "but how can I not be drawn to species that just want to eat their leaves, relax in the sunshine and the breeze and have a good scratch?"

"They have a very curious and playful side, something most people have never and will never see, but it is definitely the most endearing thing I have ever seen."
