Amal Clooney has headed back to work at the United Nations following giving birth to twins Ella and Alexander in June.

According to People, the human rights lawyer looked happy as she entered UN headquarters in New York.

Amal had plenty to celebrate on her first day back as it was announced there will be an investigation into the crimes against humanity committed by ISIS in Iraq.

The new mum has been tirelessly working for justice for the Yazidi victims of war crimes committed by ISIS, as part of her role as UN Goodwill Ambassador.

“This resolution is a victory for victims of ISIS who have fought for so long for justice,” she said in a statement released by her Doughty Street law firm in London.

Speaking to the BBC, she said, “For the first time the UN is saying to ISIS terrorists that if they commit genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes they will be held to account in a court of law and it’s saying to the victims that their voices will be heard”.

Amal’s public stance against ISIS means she can never enter Iraq again.

In a recent interview, husband George revealed that the couple had decided not to travel to any dangerous places now that they have children.

.

“We decided to be much more responsible, to avoid the danger,” the actor told Paris Match.

“I won’t go to South Sudan anymore or the Congo, Amal will no longer go to Iraq and she’ll avoid places where she knows she isn’t welcome”.

George recently spoke about the trials and tribulations of becoming a new dad. He told The Mail Online that he “cries more” than the twins do.

“They don’t cry,” the proud dad said. “I cry more than they do. I cry four times a day right now because I’m so tired".

George also made the candid revelation that he thought he might never have a family.

“Look, I’m 56 years old and I didn’t think it was going to happen for me. I thought my life would be focused on my career, not relationships, and I’d sort of accepted that.

“And then I met Amal and I thought, ‘Well, I have this incredible relationship, this is wonderful.

“And then... all of a sudden we have these two knuckleheads around who make me laugh everyday".
