BBC newsreader Fiona Bruce has been a staple on our screens for many years.

However, trying to juggle a career and children has given the presenter "a fair dose" of working mum guilt.

Speaking to the RadioTimes, the journalist said she often compares herself to her mother's parenting skills.

"She stopped working when she had her first child and never went back.

My parents' set-up was very traditional. I do judge my parenting skills against hers and often find myself falling short. She was always there, but I'm not."

Her children, Sam who is 20-years-old and 16-year-old Mia have always grown up with a nanny.

Now teenagers, the nanny, Claire is still a valued member of the Bruce clan.

"Obviously, we don’t really need a nanny anymore, but she’s part of our family,"  she told the Daily Mail.

Although, it doesn't mean it is always easy for the working mum-of-two.

"But I do have a fair dose of working mother's guilt. Would it have been better for my children had I been at home all the time? I don't know. I've asked and they say no!"

Fiona shares her two daughters with husband, Nigel Sharrocks.

The Antiques Roadshow presenter wed the advertising agency director Nigel in 1994.

Fiona famously hit headlines after going back to work 16 days after the birth of her second child, Mia in 2001.

Starting as a researcher in BBC's Panorama in 1989, the presenter said her 29-year career wouldn't be possible without the help of their nanny.

"I'm working a lot and my husband works a lot too, and it's really important for me that someone is in the house when Mia comes in from school. Plus I’m incredibly fond of Claire" she added.
