Following the release of the Barbie movie, the record-breaking film has been the main topic on everybody’s lips, and with that in mind, we thought it’d be super cute to create a list of our favourite Barbie-inspired names.
We searched high and low for names inspired by the new Barbie movie as well as some classics that old-school Barbie lovers will be obsessed with. While there are many more feminine names compared to male, we’ve added in some boy names as inspiration for your little prince too.

Girl names
Barbara- After the main character herself. Imagine having Barbie as a nickname- it’d be so cute!
Chelsea- Barbie’s little sister
Margaret/ Midge- One of Barbie’s best friends
Gloria- The mum who helps Barbie navigate the Real World and has an inspiring speech about what it’s really like to be a woman.
Sasha- Gloria’s daughter who coincidentally shares the same name as one of Barbie’s rival dolls, Bratz.
Margot- After the leading actress, Margot Robbie.
Summer- Barbie has been the hit movie of the summer (and year) so this is a great way to honour that without picking a character's name from the film.
Kendall- We just had to include this in our list because it sounds just like you're saying Ken doll if you listen closely enough!
Greta- A great way to honour everyone’s favourite director, Greta Gerwig.
Ruth- A very pretty name after the inventor of Barbie.
Boy names
Kenneth- He’s ‘just Ken’ but we still love the classic name.
Allan- The original doll was Ken’s friend, but in the Barbie movie, Allan plays an important role as he stands by all the Barbies.
Aaron- After the intern who works in Mattel and gets assigned the important task of tracking down Barbie in the Real World.
Ryan- Even though he’s ‘just Ken’ in the movie, Ryan Gosling played his role wonderfully because he is Kenough.
Will/ William- After Will Ferrell who plays the CEO of Mattel in the movie.
