With so many cookbooks to choose from these days, it takes a special cookbook to really make us sit up and take notice. We recently got our hands on a remarkable new 767 page cookbook that boasts a recipe for every day of the year and two weekly tea time treats. This cookbook promises to change the way you view your family’s mealtimes.

‘What’s for dinner? Second helpings’ is written by Romilla Arber, a mother of four who knows just how hard it is to constantly come up with tasty, healthy food that kids want to eat which is exactly what makes this recipe book so invaluable. It is filled from cover to cover with hundreds of deliciously nutritious meals that the whole family will enjoy time and time again. One of the other really terrific aspects of this fabulous book is that all proceeds from the sale go to charity- The food Education trust which was established by Romilla in 2008 to promote the value of balanced- home cooked meals through teaching kids and adults.

The book is divided into seasonal chapters and all recipes are completely mum-friendly and contain seasonal, inexpensive ingredients you can easily find while doing your weekly grocery shopping. The book begins with recipes for hearty and warming food in January, journeying towards light meals and seasonal desserts with peaches and strawberries in June and July and finishing with comforting stews and pies in December.

Some of the recipes we absolutely could not wait to try included plum and raspberry cobblerchicken and noodles, lemony lamb cutlets, chocolate orange steamed pudding with white chocolate sauce, a comforting and easy sausage and bean one-pot, chicken thighs with carrots and tarragon, apricot and raspberry cream tart, ratatouille and feta tart and brown sugar pear tart.

There are so many irresistibly delicious recipes to choose from in this gorgeous cookbook and every recipe that we have tried has worked extremely well with very little effort on our part. ‘What’s for dinner? Second helpings’ is a cookbook that you will turn to in times of kitchen emergencies and it will completely change the way you and your family eats for good.
