Sometimes, mums who breastfeed their children exclusively find that when they need to be away for a day or two, their child refuses breastmilk from a bottle. It’s usually simply a matter of your child not knowing how to bottle feed, because he or she has never learned.
The simplest choice is sometimes to just take your child with you when you travel, even if you need to take someone else along too, to watch your child when you can’t.
However if this isn't possible, another option is to spend the week leading up to your travel dates teaching your child to drink from a bottle. Try to enlist your partner to do the actual bottle feeding, rather than doing it yourself, as your child knows what mummy looks, smells and sounds like, and she is unlikely to accept a bottle from you.
Once you’ve done that, you’ll need to pump enough breastmilk to last while you’re away, and remember to pack your breast pump for the trip as you’ll need to pump while you’re on your trip, to keep your breastmilk supply up.
