Queen legend Brian May is said to be devastated after a young roe deer named Daisy had to be rescued after it was teased by children and chased by dogs.

The star has an animal sanctuary on his estate called Harper Asprey Wildlife, and it was staff from this centre and the RSPCA that helped get Daisy to safety.

"People should respect wildlife and be ashamed of their behaviour,” a member of the team told The Express

“Brian has seen Daisy and is appalled at the state of her and saddened that people would chase her with dogs or that children would tease her."

The charity released images of the frail deer to show her devastating injuries, which included a bad cut above her eye, explaining that they were from “several dog bites and from running into fences when being chased”.

“Deer are inherently jittery after years of hunting them and once faced with danger will run for their life. In an enclosed space she would have been driven into fences by chasing dogs whilst being bitten. Her wounds are in keeping with these injuries,” wrote the sanctuary on their website.

“As a charity we are shocked by the state of this poor animal, people should respect wildlife and be ashamed of their behaviour. Thank you to those who contacted us and the RSPCA to help her.”

Explaining that deer travel along train lines and large roads before going into nearby parks, the charity is asking the public to keep away from the deer.

“If you see deer in a confined area please keep away and let it return to the space it can from. Roe deer are not aggressive and will always flee.”
