It’s been reported that Mel B has been ordered to pay her estranged husband Stephen Belafonte £30,500 per month in “emergency spousal support" until they reach a final divorce settlement.

The sum is meant to cover all of Stephen’s basic requirements, including food, housing and phone bill, according to TMZ.

Not only that but the former Spice Girl will also have to fork out a once-off payment of £106,813 to cover his legal fees.

There are concerns, however, that Mel will have difficulty coming up with the cash as it was revealed she’d blown her entire £38million fortune.

A divorce hearing heard that Mel had splashed out on diamond rings, designer handbags and expensive holidays and had just £961 left in one bank account.

Mel’s lawyer Jacalyn Davis told an LA court how Mel and Stephen made "improvident lifestyle choices" and told how they "never had money at the end of the year to pay their taxes".

She added: "All their community income was being spent and then some. In this marriage, that would be Miss Brown's income from the Spice Girls."

The sorry state of Mel's financial affairs was revealed when Stephen made the request for spousal support.

Some of the singer's fortune was spent on extravagances, including a fleet of armoured cars and a private island while some of it went towards paying her children’s private school fees, alimony payments to her first husband Jimmy Gulzar and wages for her household staff.

However, Mel still has a healthy income from her stint as a judge on America’s Got Talent which nets her a cool £190K per month.

It’s been a turbulent year for Mel, as she lost her dad Martin Brown, who died from cancer at just 63.

Just two weeks on from his death, she announced her divorce from her husband of ten years, amid claims he subjected her to emotional, physical and sexual abuse.

Among the shocking allegations, Mel claims Stephen choked her, slammed her into the floor, and punched her.

It’s also alleged that Stephen coerced her into having threesomes with other women, threatened to release sex tapes of her, and got their nanny pregnant.

Mel was granted a restraining order and Stephen has been ordered by a judge to leave the family home in the Hollywood Hills.

However, one good thing did come out of the split, Mel reunited with her mum Andrea after almost a decade of not speaking.

Andrea and Mel had fallen out after Andrea voiced her concerns about the relationship between Stephen and Mel but they have been pictured together again recently.
