Fans were thrilled to hear the big news, especially because the series has been off the air since March, with the ladies of Nonnatus House making a brief return for the Christmas special in December.
One fan tweeted, “Oh my goodness! I can barely survive the wait! Thank you! At 63, and as a nurse- it’s one of the top shows of my lifetime.”
Another added, “So looking forward to this, have missed seeing Call The Midwife on my tv screen, it’s one of the best shows around at the moment.”
