Usually, birth announcements come in the form of sweet photos of Baby bonding with Mum and Dad, typically shared to Instagram in the early days after the tot’s arrival into the world.

Timi and Maria Wusu wanted to do something a little different, however, when they became parents for the first time recently, to their daughter Kaiori.

The Lion King is clearly a favourite in the Wusu household, with the couple choosing to re-enact Rafiki’s ritual and presentation of Simba in the much-loved Disney movie.

In a video shot at the hospital, dad Timi is seen fully embracing his role as he wipes Vaseline on Kaiori’s forehead, before stepping up on ‘Pride Rock’ to present her!

Hospital staff as well as friends and family of the couple also played their part, filling in as the awaiting animals who celebrate the birth of the precious new baby.

As you can guess, once mum Maria shared the video to YouTube, it didn’t take long for it to become an internet hit.

After the video hit viral status, dad Timi opened up about the inspiration behind the hilariously sweet birth announcement.

In an interview with ABC News, he said: “The Lion King theme had been in my mind for months, and I just knew that Kaiori needed to be introduced with similar grandeur and hilarity…The whole thing turned out really great. We had a tonne of fun filming and editing, and I knew it would be a hit amongst my friends and family.”
