Damned if you do, damned if you dont: Holly Willoughby on motherhood

Holly Willoughby has opened up about the never-ending pressure of being a mum. As many mothers know, you’re constantly judged and scrutinized by others. You are slated for working and slated for staying at home with your children.

We simply cannot win.

The presenter stressed that every individual mum needs to do what is best for her and her family. Ignoring the mummy brigade is one of the best things you can do for your wellbeing.

She told Closer: “Working mums and stay-at-home mums get a tough time. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't. You just have to do what's right for you and not listen to what the mummy brigade say.”

“My job as a mother isn't just to provide for my children, it's to be there for them, too - someone they can speak to, hang out with, and lean on. When it comes to the kids, I don't ever want to feel like I'm missing out on stuff,” the mum explained.

Holly has quite the lavish career which means her schedule is jam-packed so she had to enlist the help of a nanny, especially during the morning time, which is when she hosts This Morning.

Without their nanny, her children wouldn’t be able to get to school.

“I do have a nanny, otherwise the kids would have to walk themselves to school! A good work-life balance is, for me, the most important thing - and the biggest challenge I have. I'm lucky I do a job that allows me to do school pick-up, so I feel quite blessed to have that."

You cannot please everyone. Holly is too right about ignoring what other people say, especially when all they do is spout negative remarks. Focusing on what is best for you and your family should always be your top priority.
