As we all know, Father’s Day fell last Sunday, and while dads around the world woke up to some delightful gifts, one father received a present that has changed his family’s life forever.
When Christina Morrah, from Pittsburgh, went looking for a last-minute gift for her 61-year-old father, she decided that a $20 lottery ticket would do the job perfectly.
This year’s Father’s Day was already a special one for dad Joseph, a truck driver who was just a few months off of retiring from his 31-year stint as a supermarket truck driver.
However, things took a dramatic turn as Joseph scratched off the $1 Million Payout ticket on Sunday, to discover that he had just become a millionaire.
That’s right, Christina’s last-minute gift turned out to be a jackpot-winning ticket, although it was confirmed on Wednesday that there were, in fact, four other ticket-winners.
Regardless, Joseph has come into a fortune, and has been able to take early retirement as a result. He also has some exciting plans for spending the money; already the owner of a 1960s-era Chevrolet Bel-Air, Joseph intends to buy himself “another muscle car”.
“It still hasn’t settled in. When I see the cheque in my hand, then I’ll believe it,” a delighted Joseph told local media.
We should be so lucky!
